POETRY PERSONIFIED

VENU: 1999, KVG Ayurveda Medical College, Sullia; Internal Assessment Viva.

During my short tenure as lecturer at KVG Ayurveda Medical College, a Malayali girl who looked apparently christian; synonymous with smartness and who always wore spotlessly clean overcoat came to the Viva Room.

Normally she was someone who didn't care anybody and who never poked her nose in other's affairs. But her knowledge in Toxicology was below par and she could not answer many of my questions. Upon her difficulty answering my questions, the Kannada colleague of mine just went out of the room, leaving the student to my mercy. Being the only Malayali teacher at KVG, I took the liberty of advising this prospective doc about the need to know more about the subject as in future as she would be treating patients. I understood that my advice to her had negative impact and her body language turned hostile.

To my sheer shock she told me that she does not want to pursue her career as doctor and she is there just to get a 'coveted' prefix to her name 'DR.'

I thought she might have been a spoilt brat, whose parent might be a wealthy rubber planter. I gave her the liberty to leave the room; and she left the room hastily with her majestic gait; another hallmark I noted.

2013: THEKKE VAYAL, KUNHIMANGALAM.

Most of my guesses about this lively girl went wrong; her father is a planter; but he does plant vegetables, breed fish and chicken as a hobby only; and now I am his assistant in planting.

HE IS MY FATHER-IN-LAW.

Contrary to her comments she made in the viva room, she is a dedicated doctor who can decipher the pulse and win hearts of patients. She proved to me a better doctor than myself and I sometimes call her to ask some advice or second opinion.

I salute the 'karma yogi' in you DR.Kavitha.

I LOVE YOU TOO.
